It’s hard to transition your parenthood as the kids become their own household. I like to say to my kids “free advice is worth what you pay for it”, and try to make it clear that I don’t have the temperament to stop giving advice, but I expect them to filter what’s useful and what’s not, and promise not to get (too) upset when they ignore it.
