Ahh, I remember when Clyde came back as this more “so-called” respectable individual. I think he also turned Republican at the time. Wish they would have shown his original self before this turn to his businessman side.
Without the cash, it would not have mattered. Eventually, affirmative action-type programs may evolve into socioeconomic status-based assistance. When we are all brown.
In the ‘70s my dad had a job with a MSBC outfit sponsored by a group of banks. He helped applicants navigate the application and business setup process. Some of his clients built successful businesses. Others didn’t. The success rate was comparable to business startups in general. Yup, some of the applicants followed the Trump business model. Others wanted to make money by selling goods and services.
the issue with affirmative action is it is supposed to level the playing field due to social issues form the past but at what point do you say ‘enough’ if there were reperations would that end it.
Perhaps if more White Americans were aware of the policies that were deliberately employed against African Americans in the past and CONTINUE to be employed e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redlining, they would be more supportive of affirmative action policies.

We prosper through the help of our friends…….successful Americans seem to want to forget that.

That exact attitude in people is what enabled the GOP to misinterpret Obama’s “You didn’t build that,” statement against him.

Most self made success stories had a lot of help and a little luck.

A lot of people need loans. A lot of whites have taken government loans. Elon Musk for one, but less is more.
