So, now abortions will be illegal, continue, and unenforceable in the cities. Shall we raise taxes on the prostrifing churches to pay for ineffective enforcement?
The obsession with abortion on the part of right wingers is simply a control issue. It is not and never was a biblical issue, and banning it does nothing to help society in general. Of course, we absolutely need to focus far more on climate change which — whether from a theological, moral, scientific or simply human perspective — is a crisis for all of us.
Reading old newspapers, I found out that before abortion was legal, all of the estimates said it was more frequent than it is now.
And now we have a woman carrying a fetus will no skull, and unable to get an abortion in her state. She’s supposed to carry a brain-dead fetus for 9 months at the risk of her own health.
You know what would decrease abortion? Universal health care.
Abortion is an issue that is personal to my wife and me.
I suspect that there are some feminists out there who will take issue with the fact that it is a decision WE jointly agreed to make. After all, it’s HER body and ONLY she has a say with what she does with it.
Not for us. My wife and I share the same values – we often disagree on the details, but there are common core items (such as fidelity) that have kept us together for half a century.
My wife is a “habitual aborter” which is a medical term, not a political statement. In other words, she’s had a number of miscarriages. Fortunately, we have two healthy sons. However, when she was pregnant with the second one, she had a problem with the pregnancy, and abortion was an option. We chose to continue the pregnancy – as a result. we now have three absolutely fantastic granddaughters.
So the issue of abortion is personal to us. It’s not just an academic discussion.
We got to CHOOSE our path. It was not forced on us.
The concept that a fetus is a human being is a religious belief, not a scientific or medical one.
Climate change will not ‘abort’ all life. Some species will die out, others will modify their ranges. The planet will go on with or without humans or their successors.
The righteous bishops should sell their rings and gold chalices to support unwanted children/orphans. Open up those spacious homes to children who have aged out of the foster care system. Many youth are tossed out without a support system and lost to drug overdoses which is so very sad and unnecessary. AND stop “interfering” with children’s bodies.
If there is any silver lining to the GOP-appointed judges overturning Roe v Wade, it’s the proof how much out-of-touch they are with what We, the People want.
It is also proof that they are willing to abuse their power to support a political agenda.
One small step for the GOP, one giant leap backwards for womankind.
Someone really needs to stomp out this fear of climate change. Mankind survived an Ice Age that only recently [geologically speaking] ended. Pangea split up into several continents’ eons before that. We are recently placed on an ever-evolving planet, neither made nor controlled by us.

Outlawing all abortions for any reason will kill women and girls. For each one who dies one of them dies too.

A fetus is not a human baby. It is a possibility of one only. Forcing a woman to go full term no matter the circumstance is cruel.

I was hoping he’d mention something about the life of the woman, but I know the Church will sacrifice her for the fetus.
As I understand, “The woman is saved, so she can die, but the fetus must be born no matter what.”
