One of our dogs would get really excited whenever I’d start up the grill. He’d “guard” the grill from our other dog, not letting her near it until I’d finished grilling. We always cooked an extra patty each for them. I had been just cooking one, cutting it up and splitting it between them but he’d get indignant as if he knew he was only getting 1/2 a patty.
I can relate to this. When my cats are asleep in the bedroom, if I’m in the kitchen and I have to open a pull-top can for something I’m cooking, I actually step outside the back door to pull the top off (crazy, I know). Otherwise the cats will somehow hear the sound and come running for what they think is their supper.
That reminds me of my mother’s pet dog, Brandy. No matter where she was in the house, she’d be there in an instant when the fridge door was opened! ;-p

Admit it! You just don’t want to cook, Marm would certainly hear and smell the delivered food, so order extra

I’m betting Marm would wake up the instant they mentioned a food item on the phone!
