According to one Google source, "Before ‘ginger’ came to mean “extremely cautiously” in 1600, gingerly meant “elegantly, daintily.” In fact, it stems from the Latin word gentius, meaning “(well)-born).”
14 years ago my (now late) wife and I picked up two cats from the Humane Society. My avatar was named Orangina which we attempted to keep, we soon changed his name to Sammy. The other cat is black and white (tuxedo) which was given the name Ginger Ale, I thought Pepsi would’ve been more appropriate but we kept the name Ginger Ale.
Before my late loving wife finally got her Oriental Shorthair kittens, she was looking at various names. I told her that you can’t name an animal until you “know” the animal. They had been named by the breeder, but after a few days, we came up with their new names. Sadly my late loving wife died soon after she got her kittens and was unable to see that we picked the correct names.
LOVE IT! And, since we’re talking Gilligan (and his isle), the first scientist I had a crush on was the Professor. A few decades later there’ve been lots of crushes on lots of scientists! ☆☆☆ (cough {~brian cox~} cough)

My wife and granddaughter brought Frank home from the humane society and he wasn’t Frank anymore by the time he got in the door here
Buddi liked his new name and his new home right away
He fits in pretty well with his “uncles”, Boots and Blue

Rescue pets are the best pets! Of course, all pets are the best they can be, gives us underachieving I humans something to aspire to I suppose?!
