In NYC in the summer now seems to have tropical weather patterns: almost every day it rains like crazy for 10 minutes and then stops.
A yearly habit of mine has been to take a day-trip upstate every October 18 to see the fall color. Last couple of years, there’s been almost none. Still green, halfway through October.
Climate change deniers will tell you that we cannot afford to waste our money on these liberal, “tree hugging” (I’m talking to you Herschel Walker) regulations because they make America weak economically when compared to other countries.
To them there is absolutely NO cost to despoiling the environment. Don’t talk to them about draught, storms, fires, floods, heat waves and other climatic items. They will argue that these things have happened in the past before the radical left invented climate change.
What they don’t acknowledge is that these events are more severe, more widespread and occur much more often.
In the US, we’ve been led by the oil companies. But as of this week all of the major automakers; GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, VW, had announced rapid plans to build or refit factories to build batteries for their electric car fleets. Several here and some in Canada. They’ll spend billions to beat Tesla and be in production in a few years. Their decision means they’ve turned their backs on big oil. This also means they’ll expect huge infrastructure changes and/or also get into the business of providing charging stations at every corner. For us it means a new car and maybe a solar array and battery bank at home. We haven’t had brownouts here yet, but I won’t wait to hold them off.

I think flora and fauna spend less time complaining and more time evolving.
