Wish it worked that way, but sometimes the messages you give to your child do stick…..

I tried to actually speak to our Son, but at the time my late loving wife and her Mother smoked and he would take their cigarettes and they never noticed. He denied many times, even when I found he burned his windowsill and hid the butts in his room. That was over 20 years ago and he still smokes, even though his Mother quit and tried to get him to quit as well.

I learned I didn’t want to smoke cigarettes when I had to sit in a closed car in winter as my father chain-smoked. I had a headache from the smoke by the time we got to our destination.

Like I’ve always said: the best way to quit smoking? Don’t start.

Started smoking at 15 and quit when I was pregnant at 30. It has been very painful for me to see all 3 of my sons take up smoking. The oldest 2 quit finally…fingers crossed on the youngest.

My cousin passed away in 2021 from lung cancer (that had metastasized everywhere). She was only 61 and 4 months older than I am. She smoked. I don’t.
