I wrote a term paper on this in high school (back in the stone age). I don’t remember what my conclusion was, but getting there gave me me a few headaches.
For a good case arguing in favor of shakespeare writing his plays read Will in the World by Stephen Greenblatt. For an alternative take that it was the Earl of Oxford Edward de Vere that wrote them watch the movie Anonymous. Both excellent and entertaining works

When the plays were published has nothing to do with when they were written, espcially in 1616.

I have read one theory that it was Queen Elizabeth I who wrote the plays.
