I thought MF was the one that talked straight and Traze-r tlkd n txt. Maybe the guy who does the lettering can’t keep ‘em straight.

I wonder if DL realizes that he got Frog Applaused. A character pretending to defend Locher was too funny.

The Genesis Corporation HAS to have a back door to leave through.

I put up some stats for some tape libraries yesterday. Brief recap quantum’s library is 11,386 TB and STK’s is a whopping 70,000 TB.

as far as I am concerned it is rather scary that there is this much data that someone wants to have stored.

I think she’s saying that the strip has a diarrhea of words and a constipation of plot. Thanks for the heads-up, Margueritem. I had given up on FA about a year ago. Maybe I should sign back on. Only so many minutes in the day, though.

Third panel makes it obvious that when MF thinks of Dick Tracy he hurls. Kind of like me. For a bunch of robots, these guys sure need a lot of foreplay.

Just so you know, I always eat my cereal out of a warm bowl. When my bowls are not warm from the dishwasher, I microwave them before pouring my cereal in them. Mmmmmm. Delicious.

It does look like Locher is confusing the 2 robots that he spent a month or two distinguishing. Wonder if MF can fix his own flat?

I never imagined in my wildest dreams that supporting the work of my old friend, DL, would make me a target for mockery in Frog Applause. What IS this world coming to?

RayC: I have a very high regard for the woman who creates ‘Frog Applause’. I like the strip, because it lets me use my imagination. There’s more to it then that, but I’d rather tell you privately.

DL has been a great friend of mine for more than 1/2 of my life (I’m 33). He helped me get through Poli Sci class at Loyola and he’s invited me to work with him on some his own projects. Despite the mockery in today’s Frog Applause, as DL’s friend, I’m not at all ashamed to support him personally & his lifetime of work.

Apparently, I’m naive and foolish for doing this, according to the readers of DT on this site, the DT Yahoo! Group and Ms. Dowlatshahi. I’ll just go back to focusing on the positive projects I’m working on for the Chester Gould - Dick Tracy Museum and remain in the shadows from now on.

You all can sleep well tonight knowing that you’ve WON – you succeeded in stifling me, DL’s LONE champion here. Great job!

Jeff, I’ve seen some of Locher’s political cartoons on this site, and I think they’re excellent. In fact, I once wrote to compliment him, and asked why his work on DT is not up to the same standards. He didn’t reply,and that’s understandable. Some of the comments here are mean-spirited, but most are just having fun with a campy cartoon. Stay on. Locher needs a spokesman.

I LOVE having fun and I’ve got a pretty well-rounded sense of humor, I feel, but being targeted and mocked in a published comic strip was a bit more than I expected in response to my posts.

I’m grateful that forums such as these exist and that fans can share their varying opinions openly with one another. Today’s edition of Frog Applause, though, wasn’t what I intended to see in response to my opinions.

Do I think today’s Frog Applause is funny? Yeah, I really do - but at the same time I don’t like to be mocked quite so publicly for my divergent opinions on my friends work. Unfortunately, I don’t have at my disposal the same public opportunity to mock those that disagree with ME so, for example.

Jeff, The strip itself didn’t mention your name. In fact, the spokesperson is female. The comments on FA didn’t mention you either, until you posted; so you may be taking things too personally. Anyway, I’ve always believed that Locher is camping it up here and probably thrives on messing with people’s heads. But you know better than I whether that’s true.

Perhaps you’re right, RayC, but who else (besides you, occasionally) is defending the creator here at Gocomics? Or the DT Yahoo! Group? Over there I’m labeled as one of two member’s of “the Praetorian Guard,” for crying out loud! The other is my friend MPH, who some on this board resent for his support of DL.

Its been a fun ride here, believe me, but as fans of DT you would be better served by my working behind the scenes on Museum projects going forward.

Heck, even my mother picked up on this when she read it. JK

Jeff, you will never be gone and you know that. Why lie to all of us? You will keep reading and grinding your teeth at us Magpies. Besides, what would life be without Dorothy & Toto? DL needs you Jeff my boy! Maybe you have a point. After all, one can use manure to grow a flower. I guess things would not get as ugly as they can sometimes get if you would agree with us non-pros once in a while.(Sorry, I forgot that our opinions don’t matter).

Yes, we are, but without the comments, I wouldn’t read it. It’s camp value would be completely lost.

I agree with Margueritem about the comments. They add greatly to the experience. They are actually more of a sport than a put-down. Sometimes we step a little out of bounds, sometimes there’s a late hit, but it’s all just a game in the end. (And some of us get carried away with sports metaphors.) And Frogapplause: that’s a bold offer!! I hope Jeff is still tuned in. (Insert metaphor here about being on the sidelines rooting for our side.)

I think this robot thing is hilarious if not slow moving at times, and it is clear that everyone who posts on this board would have something missing in their lives if Locher quit drawing this strip. I get my daily laugh from reading the strip & the comments.

So now ya gone and done it. I had to open “Frog Applause” for the first time. Hard to see what the fuss was about, and viewing a previous day’s page didn’t help much.

About today’s DT installment: Am I wrong, or does DL do each day’s strip as a seperate entity without even looking at what he wrote yesterday? It has that feel about it, and that might be why it takes half a month to move the story along five minutes worth of timeline.
