They know your true weight is somewhat less, due to your clothes, shoes, pocket contents. They also know that your Blood Pressure Reading is going to be a bit higher than normal…
Cargo pants contents: Nintendo Switch with 3 extra game cartridges, a dozen cool looking rocks, 3 candy bars, a bunch of wads of old bubble game wrapped in wax paper, a hammer and a screw driver (never know when you’ll have to take something apart), 24 marbles, a baseball and 2 tennis ball. And a pound or two of good old dirt.
I always weigh myself in the buff (which i consider my actual weight) and then again fully clothed (with wallet, keys and cell phone) and then compare the latter to my weight at the doctor’s office to determine if my scale is accurate. The latter is about 5 to 6 lbs heavier than the former. I always wondered if the doctor and the insurance company take that difference into account.
I don’t know what a boy Joe’s age is supposed to weigh, but I’m guessing that 53 lbs is closer to normal. But the doctor doesn’t seem a bit surprised at either weighing.
If he’s carrying that much extra weight while he’s running around playing, he’s going to be an ox when gets older! That’d be like me carrying an extra 60 pounds around everywhere I went.

When they weigh you in the doctors office with clothes on its not your true weight.

For you adults, doctors automatically double the number of alcoholic drinks you tell them you have every week.
