My dad’s first name was Francis. He changed it to Will, his middle name. He wanted just two names but anything to do with legal documents, his signature had to include “no middle initial”. You can’t beat the system.
I have an Uncle Frank but it is short for Franklin. Franklin Delano Roosevelt [last name redacted for privacy]. Uncle Frank was born on March 4, 1937 and turned 87 this last March.

I was about 10 when I learned my mothers name was Audrey and not Gerry. Never knew where she got Gerry tho.

I don’t mind the name Francis. It’s shared by several saints I like. And frankly, I know too many comedic Franks to take that version seriously.
That said, I can see how someone might think that Francis sounds nerdy. Or androgynous.
