There are so many things I enjoy about 1BH, but one is how Rick uses Ruthie (and Joe) to explore the varieties of perspective by using the vagaries of the English language. It’s a reminder to me that people don’t all see life through single lenses, firmly defined words, fore ordained conclusions delegated by singly exposed conditions. The experiences of life and reactions to them can often seem whimsical to others and that is perfectly fine and sometimes to be sought.I guess I soap boxed on this because I often find readers of this sounding like the woman in today’s edition (“Ruthie needs her hearing checked”, “Her parents need to educate her”, “She must have a learning disability”) and not realizing they need to look in the mirror and see they’re being portrayed, much like the Pharisees in Jesus’ parables, while Ruthie would worry about being trampled by a pair of bulls!

Woman: Okay, how about we take it from the top?
Ruthie: How ’bout we start over?
