Why change from once a week to daily? Because when television came out, soap company commercials made us feel guilty if we didn’t shower or bathe daily, thus using more soap, thus making them more profits for more guilt commercials. It’s a vicious circle.
As a young lad, the oldest of 7 we bathed once a week. Galvanized bathtub slid behind our couch, heated water (carried in from the river or melted snow) from the stove, youngest went first, I was last and my parents went after the kids went to bed. Seemed to work, we all grew up healthy.

I understand that people used to bathe only once a week, but now it’s daily. I guess that’s because somebody raised a big stink.

Limburger cheese was also popular then [along with smoking which diminishes the ability to smell], but today it is hard to find.

I’m only surprised Jeff didn’t climb in to give it a test drive.

Yes but they are bird brains and their songs are obnoxious.
