Judging by Broomie’s reaction, you should have called and asked first.

If they ask for more, Broomie’s likely to put it where the sun don’t shine.

Dickens didn’t say “please, sir, can I have some more”. The scriptwriters for OLIVER, the movie, said that. (I just reread Oliver Twist last month.) Not to knock the movie, which is one of my favorites.
