We’ve done that in the past, getting all steamed about something trivial, leaving the room, getting back together to realize we don’t really knew anymore what the fight was about.

Let’s say it was a petty difference of opinion and kiss again ❤

I remember one time when I was a teenager. My little brother & I were watching TV when we heard our parents arguing in the kitchen. Now, my parents had had arguments before, but this one sounded like the worst one ever. We started getting upset & nervous. Then we heard my father explode, “Oh, for goodness’ sake, Sweetheart!!!” We busted up laughing, hearing that, even in the midst of a horrible argument my dad STILL called my mom “Sweetheart”. Our parents heard our laughing, realized what was up…and that effectively put an end to their argument. And THAT, my friends, is one of the reasons they ended up married for 67 years.

I don’t remember my parents ever arguing. I also don’t recall ever hearing them making love. Their bedroom was right next to us kids’, and there was no door. We slept in 3 sets of bunk beds. Can’t figure how we didn’t hear…

These days, when husband gets mad at me, he goes to bed with the door shut at any time of day. He has dementia, so when he gets up he doesn’t remember that he was mad at me. Unfortunately I still remember and have to pretend it didn’t happen.

My folks would sometimes argue about who was less deserving of the other — each one claiming to be the undeserving one, of course.

Small sqablles in married life add spice to the relationship, alright.

Married over 40 years – dated for 6 years before and engaged for 2 of them. Never have an argument. We tend to think alike about 95% of the time and the other things are too small to argue over. Whatever he wants we do (though I did manage to convince him not to buy me gifts and when I say something – unlike in TV or movies – I actually mean what I say).

    Is this now a meta-argument?
