Under the wood pile is a good spot, too. When I owned my house, I stacked 6 cords of wood for the winter. I’d find all sorts of active critters in and under the wood stacks all winter long!
My compost would stay warm enough to melt the winter snow! Perfect for worm vacations!
My father used to get horse manure to spread on his garden for the winter and it was always loaded with worms.
In many places, worms are considered an invasive species.
Always wondered about worms’ seasonal habitat.Do they book ahead? Own shares in a condo?Maybe own a little vacation hole?
The best cherry tomatoes I’ve ever grown sprang from a corner of my compost bin that I missed turning over. The next year it was pumpkins.
