It has long been said that it’s important to vote EVERY election. There may not be anything you want to vote FOR, but there is always something to vote AGAINST.
a bipartisan democracy isn’t a democracy at all. at least here in Belgium we have a dozen parties to chose from. None of them are any good, but at least you’ve got a choice.
PS: please spare me the “thE UsA ISn’t a DemOCracY, it’S a REpubLIc” nonsense.
Canadian…but I’m reluctant to cast my vote as anything but a protest vote. This is a conservative stronghold, originally a religious settlement, and they’d vote for any road apple if it’s painted Tory blue.
Why the point made in this toon does not motivate stay-at-home’s on Election Day mystifies me.
No politician or person in political party decision making positions is going to “learn a lesson and change” due to the impact of disgruntled non-voters.
And you will get local (including school boards), state, and federal elected officials in America who are Christian Nationalist dictator-wannabe’s who think societal apex was attained in medieval Europe Christendom a century or so prior to the Enlightenment, state and federal judiciaries stacked with like-minded law school graduates, and have to hope that a few individuals more loyal to the Constitution than to Biblical beliefs prevent the collapse of secular United States government.
Of course if some future President cleans out the civil service, including the Justice Department and especially military leadership, replacing that group with hardcore RWNJ Christian Dominion nationalist loyalists (say, following the 2024 election) …
… well, hello President Trump For Life.
And better keep things on the down-low if you ain’t a Republican, ‘cause America is now a single party country.
But you showed the DNC by staying home (just like you did in ‘16, right before Trump’s three USSC and 200+ lower federal judiciary lifetime appointments), boy. They’ll be sorry!

So, they’ll cancel each other out. Save time and just stay home. Voting for the less crappy candidate still yeilds a crappy result.

Mr. Wiggly: 3rd panel in the tree. Can’t think of anything funny today. Or least my idea of funny.
