Sometimes you need that small talk to get to the BIG talk. Or, just maybe, small talk is just reserved for acquaintances and BIG talk is reserved for close friends? By George, I think that might just be it.
In addition to the ‘close talker’ and the ‘high talker’, Seinfeld could have had the ‘small talker’. Just have him speak in short phrases and then leave the scene.

Got to do the small talk to lead into more meaningful discussions. Bypass it, and you you come across as too aggressive (or just plain weird).
