P3 Of course we can go home. Pray (there, I said it!) for those victims of shootings who will never be able to go home again. A moment of silent contemplation and respect for those lost is asked of those who do not believe in a higher power. The point is that we must never forget and never accept violence against our innocent children.
I’m hoping for a coherent storyline to emerge at some point. We’ve got the trans line, the divorce line, Mimi suddenly wanting to be a golf pro, the crazy coach at the other school story line, Gil’s son and crazy coach’s son as friends, the over-the-top drill (which just keeps getting more over the top), and three or four others. Call me simple-minded (and I’m sure someone will reply I am) but I’d like a clearly defined arc. Oh, I’ll take a couple sub-plots that extend beyond the main arc, and may presage the next arc or continue on through several arcs, but at the moment it feels unfocused.
Henry, I understand that this was a drill, not a real live shooter incident. But was Keri’s teacher’s attacking the “shooter” part of the plan or was he going off-script? It seems like the former, but I’m not certain. If that won’t be answered in the strip itself, please provide the inside scoop to your devoted readers.
What a polarizing society we live in. I’m a big fan of self expression. After all, it’s the 1st Amendment. I appreciate data and the comment board responses have consistently hit three digits daily. Like it or not, Hank has provided talking points for Snark Nation to opine on. I appreciate Snarker comments, but let’s strive to keep our unique site politically comment free. Everybody enjoy your Saturday. I’ll be enjoying a Hilltopper Homecoming.
Yeah, sorry, but cleaning up all this carnage from an active shooter drill is not in my contract. Dr. Pearl is on her own for this. And speaking of own, you can own your own special print of today’s Mopped Up Thorp for your collection. Well, simply by printing it and cutting it out.
In playoff action, the Michigan Milford Mavericks squeaked in with a 5-4 record, but had to face the undefeated Dexter Dreadnaughts in the first round. As expected they were blown out 41-15, ending a so-so season. The team will be hoping to rebuild for a legitimate run at second place in 2023.
Every day someone comes here to say they can’t follow so many storylines and then they go on to list all the storylines. Guys, every development doesn’t need a conclusion in 3 weeks. We can all remember that Memaw has cancer as we watch Gil fight with the school board about shooter drills. This is the strip now. It reflects high school in 2022, not 1972.

Could be wrong, but somehow I fear this thread is not quite over.

The author has never seen a drill before. There’s no ‘gunman’ terrorizing students. No fake blood. This is just dumb.

Why would it stop?
In Glenn Abbott’s Texas, you get a free DNA kit, so you know you get the right body bag.

And tomorrow, Mimi serves Gil with divorce papers. Or is that too simple-minded, @henryjbarajas?
