Oeh, I really hate those kind of automated replies…have you looked at our website? Most questions are answered there….grrrr..yes I have looked, no, it’s not working or my question isn’t one of those that are answered…or I have a technical problem your website cannot solve. It really makes me more angry at that point, it’s such a condescending way of addressing your clients.
A vehicle hit a pole in front of our home, and I had to call to report the damage. Got the same stinkin’ message. “Dagnabbit, my internet is down. I can’t do this on-line.”
Hello there, everyone. I know you don’t hear from me here very often…okay, well, actually never… I usually prefer to have my characters do the talking… First, I want to thank all of you for your loyalty for all these many years. You, the reader, are the main reason I do this thing every day to begin with and I really do appreciate it. Really!
Anyhow, I wanted to share with you some of what’s going on with strip. The truth is that this industry is changing rapidly and will continue to do so. I’ve been hit lately with some pretty serious newspaper setbacks and moving forward I will have to rely on an increased digital presence to better assure that the strip moves comfortably into the future. As a result, I am now on PATREON. There you can get access to more material such as archives from when “Ben” first appeared in newspapers in 1996 (the ones on Gocomics are from 2009), books, e-books, and original art and sketches. I’d also like to be more active on social media and engage with my readers, so there I will be posting more about myself, my hobbies and samples of artwork unrelated to “Ben”, things that may be of interest to my readers and fans.
Please go to https://www.patreon.com/user?u=81280828 I hope to see you there! Thanks again and here’s to the future!
I phoned a business at the exact time that they opened and got that same “High volume of calls” BS. It’s like that with companies that don’t really care.
Reminds me of one of the calls I made to Dell as part of my PC Computer Support job. I told her the problem was that the computer would not boot. She was obviously reading from a list of responses when she told me to run Windows so she could connect remotely to diagnose “the problem”…
I called my power company about an outage and they wanted me to submit the online form. I also worked in broadcast television and would get calls from people who wanted to know why I didn’t put up an ‘Off the Air. Technical Difficulties’ sign when the transmitter went down.
I’m having a problem with a medical imaging service that wants me to use their online booking “system” instead of answering their phones, and won’t reply to either!
When calling businesses which ask me what the problem is so they can send my call… I use the “huh fra fra” method.
I just keeping same into the phone until the system realizes it is not understanding the response and there must be some problem and I get a live person. Works about 90% of the time.

Make sure to complete that survey at the end of the call to tell them how wonderful their support is.

This reminds me of an occasion. Something similar, but with a power company. Machines can be great tools, but do not replace people.

Whenever that happens, you have to turn the computer off then turn it back on again.
