If something happens to dinner (which it does not) I generally have to come up with an alternate dinner (and husband is not the peanut butter sandwich aficionado that I am). Eating out or taking in expensive and we have limited places we can do either when food limitations due to medical conditions is combined with cost.
About 8 years ago I burned my hand when I started cooking dinner and by the time it was coated in first aid ointment and bandaged it was a bit late to start cooking again and it was Monday night so all of the take out Chinese places we know of were closed Husband decided to splurge – both in terms of money and in terms of it being high in carbs for two Diabetics – on a pizza. I guess somewhere over the decades of not eating same, I lost my taste for it and it involves so much chewing.
I actually prefer cooking dinner to taking in or eating out – and several nights each week I cook a completely different dinner for each of us.

My aunt would screw up in the kitchen, on purpose, to get my uncle to take her out to a restaurant.
