Just Andy and his friend Biff having some fun.

I mentioned some weeks ago that there was a UK comic called “Wham” in the 1960s when I was born which featured “The Tiddlers” from Canal Street School and a character called Biff. Biff became the first front page star so we had a character called Biff starring in a comic called Wham! “The Tiddlers” replaced “Biff” as the front page strip in 1965.

I grew up in the 1970s reading comics like “Whizzer and Chips”, “Shiver and Shake”, “Whoopee”, “Monster Fun” and “Krazy”. Three strips from “Wham” would later appear in “Whizzer and Chips”. These were “Sammy Shrink”, “Footsie the Clown” and “Glugg”. Glugg was a cave boy who kept inventing things which would be re-invented in more recent times so the full title was “Glugg – He’s Years Ahead Of His Time”.

Two characters from “Wham” would reappear in “Shiver and Shake”. They were Frankie Stein and Grimly Feendish. Frankie Stein would continue in “Whoopee” after “Shiver and Shake” merged with “Whoopee”. He would also appear in “Monster Fun” and would then appear in “Buster” after it became “Buster and Monster Fun Comic”.

Buster, as has been mentioned several times before, was originally billed as “Buster – Son of Andy Capp” and this billing would be revived in the 1990s.

Sarge and Andy Capp have a similar work ethic. However, Sarge not only has a job but was promoted from Constable to Sergeant.

I’ve just been reading the Andy Capp comics which were originally scheduled for 31 October and 1 November but which were somehow delayed. As someone commented on the strip for 31 October, “Better late than never.”

Nothing like a swim under a full moon – very refreshing – particularly when it is in November…!

I wonder who biffed and who received the biff…

I’ve noticed the comment section as decreased since Affie left. I, for one, do not know if G & G are submitting funny strips or not.

Nobody to arrest. Nobody wearing a purple suit. But the moon is full. Perhaps later.
