This is the way it always is so why announce it? When I took rides from people I always sat in the back if it was a husband and wife. When my husband and I give rides our passenger sits in the back. Why make such a deal of it unless Charlene is trying to rub in Luann’s singleness?

If there is a single woman friend, I’m sitting in back with her so we can gab on the way :)

This is middle class style only. Upper class people sit with the non partner. Working class folks, men sit in front and women sit in back.

Usually I’d go by comfort, so the person who needs the most comfort (like a senior or a tall/large person) goes in front. Announcing that “we’re the married people” and “he’s the husband” made me cringe. Cathy should’ve just met them there. The only reason I’d accept a ride is if I want to drink some alcohol, which at this point she may need to do to get through this.

At least the third wheel gets to go somewhere. It’s better than staying home alone with ice cream and diet books.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that by saying the unnecessary things she did, Charlene is staking a “claim” where her husband is concerned so that if Cathy has any “designs” on him then she’d better think again? If so, it was probably brought on by the fact that Cathy insisted that she didn’t NEED a date for dinner, and then proceeded to play a ridiculous game of “20 Questions” with Charlene right before they picked her up regarding how she tries on all her different clothing and shoe combinations with her husband around. This may have led her to (wrongly) think that Cathy is interested in Simon so this was her less-than-subtle way of telling her that Simon is HER man and that Cathy needs to back off.

Or maybe AlondraRachellaLabute is right and she’s just rubbing the fact that Cathy’s still single in her face. Either way, this is one “friend” I could do without if that were me! :-/

I have to agree with both AlondrarachellaLabute and Gretchen’s Mom Charline is definitely staking a claim and rubbing in her married status. Cathy chose the wrong people to spend time with tonight.

Very busy Wednesday so I am rather late getting to the comics. I hope everyone else’s day was calmer.
