I used to carry a huge purse like Cathy’s due to having to carry all my then-husband’s junk as well as mine. Now I carry one less than a fourth that size and have plenty of room for just my stuff. Divorce can be liberating in more ways than one.
On a positive note, it seems that all of her stuff fits into both bags. Maybe she can have a main bag and a side one. Or maybe she can just get rid of stuff… Nahhh
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Have a great day, all!
I confess I have a fanny pack with “just a few things” that I really need: medications (some for conditions that occur once every few years), SD memory cards (in case a flying saucer landing fills up the one in my camera), a camera phone (in case I need a camera), a polarizing filter for my camera phone (not really a photographer without one), a writing pad (and I think I have a pen), a tiny flashlight (for looking through my bag without doing the embarrassing “table dump”, a paperback book (nothing says, “please ask about my book” better than an actual book), a wallet (for when charm is not enough), some printed receipts for somethings, some recently printed photos (I have photographs the way other people had paper clips), a couple of paper clips (useful bits of wire come in handy), and variable etcetera.
For “expeditions”, I add a point-and-shoot camera and spare batteries.
Fortunately, because of back injuries, I have to keep it all under 5 pounds. :)
I actually used to carry a big purse and a tote bag to work and most everywhere else. Then one day, I just said no. I went to a tiny purse for work and eventually to carrying nothing that wouldn’t fit in my pockets. Then came the hassle of trying to find women’s clothing with working pockets. Most women’s pants have funny little slanted pockets that things can easily fall out of, and a lot of women’s pants and jackets don’t have pockets at all.
One wallet with all the necessary cards and a little bit of folding money in one pocket, some tissues just in case in the other. Oh, if not wearing a jacket than a key ring. Somehow I have managed to survive many decades with just these items in my pockets when I go out. However I doubt that Cathy will ever be able to carry just that small purse.
My wife should be coming back from her MRI anytime now. The hospital arranged for her to travel by one of the ambulances used for patient transfer services (not one used to respond to emergencies). Surgery tentatively scheduled for tomorrow. If all goes well she just might be home Saturday. Still not sure I will be able to get to the conference in Phoenix this year as I would have to leave next Tuesday. Ah well, they will be online as well so I won’t miss out on the information. I will miss meeting people I have not seen since pre-covid though.

It’s not how you carry what you need as long as you have what you need.
