I used to shop at a nice store where their regular customers got free gift wrapping. I used to get stuff for myself wrapped whenever I had the time to wait. So much fun to take a wrapped package home and admire it before tearing it open.
I always felt that economists preaching doom and gloom would actually cause a recession or worse. Sure they can forecast better times ahead but Cathy’s mom is right – it is up to the consumers to get their company back on its feet – one pair of shoes at a time. I never thought that governments could really help the economy a whole lot. Sure they can set the climate for people to feel confident that they can spend their money and not suffer for it but until people actually spend the economy does not improve. (hmmm – sounds like a rant to me).

Thoughtful of comic Cathy and her mom to help strengthen our economy in person, isn’t it? Personally, I prefer some things about shopping in person and some about online. I did go kinda crazy on Cyber Monday, though. Oops—ha.
