My husband could pick up Barney without hurting him by wrapping his arms around, enclosing all his legs. That’s how he got into and out of the car his whole life. Sometimes I miss him so much.
I have ramps to the kitchen, up to the couch in the living room, and up to the bed in the bedroom. Had to add a 4 inch curb and some 1/2 inch ribs to the kitchen ramp so my 20 year old dachshund can still climb up it. If the kitchen trip involves food, she doesn’t necessarily need the ribs.
Our guy began needing a ramp to the car seat. But we discovered he had arthritis and it simply hurt too much to jump. On an anti-inflammatory, he’s a new dog and can jump in fine and is back to running and leaping.

Funny: round about one hour or so Fred lost all his coloring. But dogs can’t see red, right? So he sniffs which one the family car is.
