According to Wikipedia “For a period of time after its invention, the guillotine was called a louisette” but that’s hardly a fact that a grade schooler would ever come across, is it?
Contrary to urban legend, the inventor of the guillotine did not die on the guillotine himself. But his family hated being associated with the instrument of death and after Monsieur Guillotin died, they changed their surname.
