Just so long as you leave it where it won’t be stepped on.. you’re fine. Besides there is no sign within 50 feet so if necessary.. you can plead ignorance.
At the age of 75, I am old enough to remember what it was like before dog tie-up laws were “a thing”. A lot more dogs got hit by cars, and since no summer was complete without walking barefoot in the lush green grass, a lot of kids had dog poop squishing up between their toes once or twice each summer. As the current care giver for 3 fur babies (plus over 10 more that were fosters or crossed the Rainbow Bridge), I am perfectly willing to pick up their solid waste. A few plastic bags and in some cases a rubber glove or two are no burden to pack. Less stress than worrying whether you were witnessed. Or worse, photographed and posted on your neighborhood Facebook pages.
the buddy i was visiting told me, sure, take the dog out for a walk if you like. totally forgot to bring the pooper scooper and, listening to my apology about the pooch pooping on a neighbor’s lawn, my exasperated buddy said, of course you’d let her go in a cop’s yard…
