I don’t understand how this works. Does it mean that a Latina woman had to work all of 2021 and then until Dec. 8, 2022, to equal the pay of a white man in 2021?
Since there are several making incorrect assumptions rather than looking up facts, here is an excerpt from the link provided above.
“Latina Equal Pay Day is the approximate day Latina’s must work into the new year to make what White non-Hispanic man made at the end of the previous year.”
There are 18 members in my unit, 10 of which are Hispanic, 8 of those barely know any English, we are all scheduled to work the exact same hours and days, except unit leaders), we are all paid a salary which except for unit leaders ($1 an hour more and one extra hour per day) We all make roughly the same exact salary depending on when we joined and moved up the tiers, our health care deductions vary greatly. This is where it is unfair. Anyone hired before 2013 has $40 monthly taken out for insurance. I started in 2014 mine is $175 a check, the new hires get $394 taken out monthly. We are all paid roughly the same, where they screw us is in HC contributions. However, because we are under a threshold of income, some of us qualify for free healthcare through the state. We get an annual buy out check from the school ($3k) plus, that once deducted money is returned, it’s like a nice raise!

The way it’s written, Latinas apparently earn more than white men, since they don’t have to work the full year to achieve equal pay.
