Best part of KMart is that they had Slurpees and Popcorn.

More likely, what was K-Mart. (It is, kid, where Calvin’s parents bought Calvin when he was a baby, but as a blue-light special; almost as good, but a lot cheaper.)

Poor Kmart. There is some conflicting info online (imagine that!) but there may be as few as two American Kmarts left. (Anyone else remember Kresge’s?)

Kmart merged with Sears, two swimmers drowning together. Poor Sears. (Anyone else remember Roebuck?)

If that is the new definition of throw up, please don’t clean it up. It’s pretty cool. However, it does need a Manger, as the celebration does center around Jesus……

Kmart was to mass merch retailing as A&P was to grocery retailing. How do you bankrupt a grocery store chain that had over 3000 stores at its zenith? I guess that is a good question for the Donald, who bankrupted a casino. As almost impossible as that sounds.

A local restaurant recently closed, and I commented that it used to be a Stuckey’s. You know what my 40+ year old children said.

I’m old enough to remember all the chains mentioned here. Kresge’s was across the street from Woolworth’s in my home town, and I spent many a spare minute in Kresge’s watching the doughnut machine making an endless pile of doughnuts. The Stuckey’s signs were more common than Burma-Shave. I was always wondering what Pecan Pralines really tasted like. Today, Walmart has filled in for all the other failed retailers.

    Anyone remember Zales?

My sons spent their college summers (early to mid 1990’s) working in a Zales’ warehouse to help pay for their college years.

Between the four of us, they managed to get through college without any loans. Thank you Zales – wish you were still around.
