It’s still worth a try, Sophie. All you need is another chair or stool to hop onto the counter. Too bad mom or dad doesn’t have sense enough to hide anything on the counter.
Every pet I’ve met understood perfectly well they weren’t supposed to be on the counter (or what have you)…so they’d just make sure to get on there when and where they were confident they wouldn’t be caught doing so. ;)

To be fair, who leaves doughnuts where anyone else can get to them? If you don’t eat them all at one time, they’re fair game.
