For a while there was a park in Santa Barbara where neutered strays ran free. One day I saw about six of them “lock on” to a bird that was pretending to be injured. There was a LOT of stealthy stalking going on for a couple of seconds. Suddenly, a big, fat cat, far in the back meows, “I got it. I got it.” and started charging the bird, which, of course, flew away.
You would NOT believe the look the other cats gave the overeager one. :)
