I don’t know what his problem is. My cat likes me. We go for walks, although she has a cat flap and can go out anytime. When indoors, she hangs out in the same room or where she can see me from another room. She’s not a lapcat but one of the more companionable cats I’ve known.
Of course, I have spent over an hour a day interacting with her for nine years. I still have plenty of “me” time because she sleeps about 16 hours a day, like a normal cat.
We adopted a cat a month ago. Although he was a stray (or feral considering he doesn’t purr aloud,) he enjoys our company. Sweetest boy spent the first evening on our couch ping ponging between our two laps. In the end I believe he has chosen my husband just slightly over me. He does insist on leading us from one room to another or supervising any work we may do around the house. Generally now, he sleeps on the bed with us at night. We usually adopt elderly cats, but Earl Grey is only 2 – 3 years old. We thought he was a different cat when we decided to adopt him sight unseen (that cat would’ve been 8 or 9.) He is a delightful addition to our family.

You should be enjoying those days. You are indoors, warm, well-fed and watered, and pampered.
