I wash things as I cook doing complicated recipes. If I don’t, I will have a sinkful for a week. Don’t have a dishwasher. Had one once and got tired of washing dishes to wash dishes.
I’m a boomer and I think FB, Twitter and other social media is not social at all. It is self promoting, sucks brain cells and takes away time from work and doing good for humanity. Everyone cries about everything and does nothing. All it does is feed the rich and make them richer. People complain about the elite and companies that take from us and yet you are on social media supporting them. Every click you make, brings them money, lots of money. And what have you done except share an opinion that is usually 90% off track.
I’m a boomer and I detest Facebook and indeed all social media. As far as I can tell, it’s turned almost everyone into narcissistic, belligerent morons.
I just read Jonathan Hait’s Atlantic article: “Why the Past 10 Years of American Life Have Been Uniquely Stupid”. It explains a lot.
after the cheddar ( or Queso) add sliced jalapenos and chopped tomatoes, some cilantro if desired, then top with another large tortilla. Flip after a few minutes. Cut into triangles with a pizza wheel cutter. :-/
I don’t think this is a commentary on FB specifically, but the weird recipes that routinely appear on my feed. I don’t even cook, but I see recipes every day, which when I read thru them, would definitely result in Arlo’s kitchen disaster.
This tiny little town in which I live is very fortunate: we have a very fine Mexican restaurant right on Main street. And no, not a Taco Bell, but a real family-owned establishment.
We changed that recipe to ‘Taco Bowls’ which are individually sized in individual bowls. The same amount on ingredients makes 6 of our pyrex bowls that are great for lunches the next day. Instead of the burrito sized tortillas, we use tostada sized ones, which means we alternate using the corn and the flour, to mix things up.
Boomer here and FB is a tool. Just like the two full sized toolboxes I own are full of. I can see what family is doing from Yellowknife to Victoria. You see I learned you can scroll past whatever you want. There is no gun to my head to read the mindless carp that is posted there.
Arlo is talking about instructions videos that go on for 30-60 minutes and are actually nearly completely nonsense.
(Several people made that point, but made their posts too long to stand out in the un-related Facebook conversation. For instance, RonMcCalip used 6 lines to skillfully describe the [horrible] click-bait experience.

Did the power go out and shut his computer down or did it just get to complicated based on the final dish count?

Just a sincere reminder to everyone here: this is a form of social media.

I am a Boomer, and I also hate it. Too intrusive and everyone talking about mundane things, just to have something to say. Boring.

Pinterest is just as bad, if not worse. And if they don’t encourage you to make a big mess, they certainly cause a lot of TIME to vanish.
