Ok, so my turn to ask a puzzling question: Why doesn’t Scott Google it? I did so, the story goes that The Red Baron would wake up with just enough time to get his flight gear on and get in the plane, no time to eat. Engineers hooked up a heating plate and froze pizzas for him, once in flight he would put a frozen pizza on the plate, and 5 minutes later be eating the pizza. The people that made frozen pizzas heard about it, and decided to name their pizza after the Red Baron. Whether this is true or not, IDK. You can read the info here. https://dnewell1.wordpress.com/2008/08/10/the-red-baron-update/
And I thought sandwich shops had bad names. “Potbelly”? Oh yeah, I so want to end up like a fat pig. “Subway”? Yum, tastes like the crud in the metro stations.
Ha! I actually made Red Baron pizzas!! No kidding! I worked the night shift at Tony’s Pizza (owned by Schwann’s) in Salina, Kansas. I worked in the Thick Crust Bakery making the dough, watching the machine that made doughballs, running the presses that squashed doughballs into crusts, and tending the oven. And eating all the reject pizza we could stand in the breakroom! Good times!

That last panel is a masterful putdown, expression and all.

I don’t know why they chose the name, but it was a great ad slogan.
“What do you want on YOUR Tombstone?”

Tombstone pizza was named after the bar in Medford, WI where it was originally developed, back in the ’60s.

Love it! That first panel set the tone for the rest of it! Every panel evoked a new laugh. Hilarious!

Hah! Rick gave Scott a “zinger” in the last panel. Rare success for him! :)

What black magic causes the date to be out of date? I fear the worst for Scott…

In the early 90s or so there was a pizza company that had a tv ad of a rat in a sombrero singing about the pizza. Rats, yum. Top that.
