We didn’t have a t.v. until 1995. My kids didn’t have many responsibilities around the house, but outside play still kept them more active than most of their friends. I finally broke down and got a t.v. about a month before my son broke his leg.

Listened to the radio…..

TV opened up a whole new world for me. I saw many historic events, including Queen Elizabeth’s coronation!

Their eyes were stronger, too! Too close to the TV, Red! (say that to my nephew 10 X a day!)

Give me “meep meep” any day!

Actually pre-technology, reading books for leisure was looked at much the same as we consider TV or wasting time looking at our phones today; a distraction, being lazy etc.

Before TV we got our visual kicks on Saturday afternoon at the movie theatre watching the latest comedy or Western preceded by cartoons and that week’s chapter of Captain Video.

Good ol’ Rover… always holding Red on a steady course. Well, most of the time.

Before TV in the early 40s we listened to radio shows. I like the 15 minute late afternoon adventure broadcasts with sound effects & used my imagination.

Yeah…we had a whole FIVE CHANNELS when I was a kid. The 3 main ones, an independent and PBS.

They sat around inventing tv, radio, computers, cell phones, video games, etc.

Rover nailed it …… even up through the Woodstock days ……. just find a picture of the Woodstock crowds and you’ll see very few, if any, over weight people …… :)

In the ’60s and ’70s, we were as panels 2 and 3 describe, even with TV!

First noteworthy scene I recall was when I was about 18 months old, Mom was away in the diaper closet getting a fresh pair for me while I was watching 1958 ‘Divorce Court’, plaintiff was sitting in the witness stand, wearing a black A-line dress, small hat & pearls..husband screwed up.
