Crush dreams, hobble one’s imagination, ignore bullying… Yeah grade school hasn’t changed since I was a kid.

Amelia: “Besides, it was just a little press. It’s not my fault there’s no volume control on those things. But, yeah, I understand. Just wait until I get Wallace’s Dad’s flare gun. Then we can dream…”

…. you didn’t bother to check what Amelia had BEFORE letting her go on. Ametuer mistake, if one MANY a comic strip teacher has made over the years. Never let the wild child go up before checking what their actually going to DO.

I can only imagine what that sounded like in an enclosed classroom. Spud probably wet himself.

To be honest, telling her not to dare probably only spurred her on.

If she had held it in her teeth, would she have been a loud-mouth?

I understand how she feels. I was told not to demonstrate my martial arts throwing-stars for show-n-tell once!

Hey, try that on yourself first, like Dr. Jekyll.

    Or Jeckle. With Heckle.

Standard item in any nautical-oriented town; her classmates would be well aware of them and would flinch the moment she raised it (doubtless all their parents warned them never to touch an airhorn).

I like the way the principal is drawn. The full beard and red nose are nice touches.

I brought an egg to school in the 7th grade to demonstrate it’s strength. If you hold it in the palm of your hand, there is no way it will break when you squeeze with all your might. Physics, right? So I called on the strongest kid in class to demonstrate. He was one big hombre. The result? Egg all over the chalkboard, and other places. I guess he didn’t know about physics.

“Everyone dreams: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”
