In those Japanese YouTube ferryboat videos, Shiba always mixes tofu with something else. Always.

Tofu or not Tofu, that is the question!

Best answered with a prime steak dinner and a stein of IPA!

Tofu contains antinutrients “These compounds are naturally found in plant foods and lower your body’s ability to absorb nutrients from food. Tofu contains these two types of antinutrients: Phytates. These compounds may reduce the absorption of minerals such as calcium, zinc, and iron”

I’m just naturally a meat eater, and have been since I was a baby.

I love steak, and chicken and fish, and I eat them.

I sometimes eat a vegetarian meal, just because it happens to be what I have or crave.

You go in the fridge and decide on a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, or an omelet… Bingo, vegetarian dinner.

I rarely eat a completely vegan one, cos I don’t go out out my way to avoid animal products.

But I have to say, I LIKE tofu…

It tastes like what you cook or season it with, so if you cook it plain it’s inedibly bland.

A grilled tofu sandwich is probably pretty bad, and gives tofu a bad name.

But I’ve eaten it cooked in Thai peanut sauce and it’s very good.

I won’t say I don’t prefer chicken in it, but the tofu is ok too.

So are other Asian dishes, like “red-cooked” tofu, which is braised in broth and soy sauce.

I prefer it to fake processed imitation meat like Impossible Burgers.

No, no, Bub, you’re thinking of “Eckythump”, where they hit you on the head with unprocessed rolls of Tofu…

Tofu takes on the flavor of whatever it is cooked in/with. To Bub’s point, you have to be a good cook to cook vegetarian well.
