A black man named McCoy invented an improved drip oiler to lubricate machinery. It worked so well that his name became associated with about anything successful — if it was genuine. Hence, the phrase “the real McCoy.”

    M. Turner (on the wall behind her) would be Madeline Turner, a Black woman who invented and patented in 1916 an ingenious and easily cleaned device called “Madeline’s Fruit Press.” Her invention led the way to the development of fruit juicers. The face belongs to Charles Turner, though, who was a teacher, researcher, and inventor as well.

I hope Luann gets a better grade than Bernice who snaked her idea. Of course Mr F might give Lu a C- as she did not truly research the ideas but got a list from Delta if he asks a few more questions.

About traffic control: In many foreign countries, the red octagonal signs there say “STOP” in English rather than the native language. Whyizzat?
