The last time I complained to HR it was because our boss told us to work 60 hrs a week but only put 40 on our timesheets. Their answer was to suck it up or work elsewhere. It was stopped only because it was illegal and someone reported it to corporate.
My theory on the two reasons for HR: 1) Cover the company’s collective behinds. 2) Give the boss a valid reason for terminating employees they want to get rid of.
One of my degrees is in Human Resources and I can’t seem to get a job in that field. I can’t believe how many people want to work in that field. Maybe only a short time and then become project managers or something afterwards once they find out how tough the job is.

Private industry does not have civil service to contend with, would we have a deep state without it?
