yeah, Connie, the horizon looks spectacular.

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking.

Racing around to come up behind you again.

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older.

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

On the great conveyor belt of life, I am one of Lucy’s chocolate candies.

I was 2 years old when my mom was the age I am now.

This is what happens when you live too close to the local factory and can see the conveyor belt from your dining room.

At your age, Elly, you could conceivably live the same number of years. Not so at my age. I have more behind than before but that’s ok. I know where I’m going when I die.

Somehow, I don’t think that was quite the response Elly had in mind.

It was a real shock for me to realize that when the talk about “the elderly” they mean ME!

I dont need to shade my eyes to see the end, I just look about 10 – 20 feet ahead.

Me at 32 was my Mom’s age when I was 10.

One of life’s rude awakenings. Pray we all live long enough to experience the feeling, far too many are gone before they have that chance. Growing older ain’t so bad when you consider the alternative…

When my Dad was my age he’d been dead for six years (apologies to Tom Lehrer).

That will be one time that you will not hear… YOU ARRIVED AT YOUR DESTINATION!

The Great Conveyor of Life…. nice analogy.

There will never again be more people older than you alive than right now.

Which Connie, is why life isn’t about the length, but what you do with it while you are alive.

I’m old enough now that I can see my parents at this age. I like to see what They were like before I was born.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper: the closer you are to the end, the faster you go through what you have left.

I just keep getting older and older; it can’t be changed.

Just face it with dignity, Honey!!!

I am older now than my Grandmother was when I was born. Like to be a Grandmother some day, but glad son not in a rush as well.

Just so the conveyor belt doesn’t lead into a furnace.

At 80 it isn’t even all that far away…..

Don’t Look! Denial is alive and well.

Appropriate…today is my 79th birthday…

Oddly, it’s thing we learn intellectually quite young. But that knowledge is nothing compared to entering the reality of the experience.

Connie must have great eyesight. I couldn’t see the end coming when I was 40. There were still too many years to go (fortunately) for me to say that I could see the end. Now, I would have to be in denial to say the end isn’t getting fairly close.

And regarding ages of family members at birth, one of my best buddies in high school has a grandmother who is only 33 years older than him. She had his mother at 17 and his mother was 16 when he was born.

Is it just me, or is Elly’s nose getting bigger? If so, that can only mean one thing: she’s going to be putting men on pause!

I can remember at 30, I’d think I’ll be 48 in the year 2000 and thought that was a long time away and that 48 was old. Suddenly, I’m 70… and nothing is far away, if you get my drift.

As the Chenille Sisters once astutely observed, “Help! I’m turning into my parents”.

Truer words were never said…

I think it’s more of a rollercoaster ride: when you’re young it seems like forever before years pass to become old enough to do things that you want as an adult and you reach a point where times speeds up and you wonder where the time has gone!

Wait until you are 75!

Just wait until her children turn 45; then she will feel old.

My mom is 97 1/2 as she likes to say now..sharp as a tack , but body is worn out and basically bed bound. But does not miss a thing…lol
