SKelley expresses the Republican mantra that government should not do anything. Ever.

Actually, no, that’s a very bad thing. Unfortunately, Republicans have so corrupted and undermined the purpose of the House and Senate for so long, many people can’t remember when we actually had a functioning government.

I was thinking that some of the RWNJ ’toonists would embrace this as their goal.

Governments are a compact with the people. Legislation is passed to ensure certain things get done to benefit people. This isn’t the 1800s anymore, Mr. Kelley, government isn’t evil.

Next week many Congressional employees will not be paid because there are no committees to process the paperwork. These are people who have everyday expenses just like you and me. So no, Kelley, for this among many other reasons dysfunction is not good news.

But you always go cheap.

It seems like the GOP has achieved its goal – to neuter the US government.

since when did Congress do anything at all…besides raise their salary.

Get this. There were three recessions/depressions in USA history. ALL under Republicans. Only two Presidents LOWERED the debt. Obama and Clinto. BOTH DEMOCRATS. Obama had ZERO scandals ( there was NOTHING on Hunter Biden’s laptop). Trump had 58 scandals. You say the Democrats accomplished nothing? Because the Republicans defeated every bill the Democrat presidents tried to pass…including universal healthcare and tax cuts. Regan almost bankrupted the USA with his military spending..

Got to be hurting the cable news stations though.. not being able to interrupt that all important count and subsequent analysis with commercials.

And of course, it isn’t new news

As long as the republicans are arguing with each other they are not destroying our country.

Kelley makes it clear which side he’s on. No effective government, from either party.

I dunno, in 2020 the Dems won an extremely narrow majority, and the leftist, Progressive, Squad faction were not happy with Nancy as Speaker, but they voted for her anyway. Now in 2022 the Repubs win an extremely narrow majority, and the right wing conservative, Freedom, faction is not happy with the prospect of McCarthy as Speaker and refuses to vote for him. Does this show that the Freedom folks have more dedication to their principles, or that the Squad folks are more inclined to follow party orders?

This is just one result of the attempted coup on January 6th. Rational citizens must never forget how a minority tried to destroy our country.

Republicans weren’t planning on doing anything, so this works well into their plans.

Well, at least if they’re paralyzed, they are preventing from passing any more bad legislation that none of them have actually read through.

But they’re still spending taxpayer money – they and their staffs will get backpay eventually.
