I know how he feels. I have always needed to have something aural in the room while doing anything. It helps keep my focused and stops it from wandering. (As I write this a rerun of “Law and Order” is on the TV immediately to my right). Back when I was young I would always my transistor radio on when I did homework. My dad seemed to understand and always had something – radio, TV, record – on while he worked so I presume I inherited this from him.
It did take husband awhile to get used to the idea – studying for exam? – radio on. I even have the TV on while I go to sleep now – I find something familiar or calming (going to sleep with children’s TV shows on lately – many times it is “Bluey”) and set the timer to shut off TV/cable box in half an hour. For a few years after my sister was born and before we moved from the one bedroom apartment we lived in to childhood house I slept on a cot in the living room. Back then there was only one TV in the home – in the living room – so while my parents watched TV I was going to sleep in the same room which may have started this.

If it were Buddhist meditative music, I think Baldo wouldn’t be able to concentrate.
Si fuera música budista meditativa, pienso que Baldo no pudiera concentrar.

My father could never understand why I wanted/needed loud music when I was driving as a teen. He thought it was distracting, I thought it was calming.
