My girls have a standing rule. If they get annoyed, as in vet trip, or really anything they don’t like….. they get annoyance treats. I think it’s a good rule too. keeps me from getting the evil looks.

Mom has no trouble getting Zoe for her clippings, but by the second paw, she is fidgeting and growling. Mom reminds Zoe she gets treats afterwards. It doesn’t really help much, but she still gets the treats.

Our indoor-outdoor cat gets treats when he comes home when called (we live in the country). So cute seeing him trotting across the lawn and mewing. (He also mews when we first call him to tell us where he is. Rather a cat version of Marco-Polo.) Fortunately he stays near the house.

    Too bad, Mitty. It’s necessary.

Talk about timing. We just did Monroe’s claws today.

My boys don’t are okay getting claws trimmed, a bit squirmy but don’t fight me. My DLH girl is not at all okay with trims. Even with treats near her face she fights. Adding to the issue, she’s a black cat with black claws and classic long haired cat fur tufts between her pads.

Ours get treats AFTER a nail trim. The little girl gets a treat after her flea treatment, since even that is annoying to her. She’s a little diva

My cats have learned there will always be treats later. So, I cannot “trick” them into anything but showing up. Any fancy body manipulations are non-negotiable.

However, after five minutes of full-body cat massage, I can usually count on enough “after-glow” to allow me to cut one claw. :)

We have a wonderful woman who does mobile grooming. She’s really quick and gentle clipping claws. They still fight a little, but I hope they’ll get more used to it. Treats never interested them when they were younger, but maybe I’ll try it again next time.

I could do that with Vlad without treats. But I also had him since he was 8 weeks old. I became ma ma and pretty much could do anything with him. He even would sit on the toilet and let me brush his teeth. I kept showing him me brushing mine and we just did it. His treat was getting a drink from mommy’s cup.

I need to half sit on my cat in order to cut his nails. He’s so strong.
