I had a neighbor whose mechanic discovered a mouse living under the back seat of her car. It lived on the food her kids dropped.

Relax, Elly. Just put another slab of cheese in the box and put it in the car…again. And isn’t it only the females that make nests?

Okay, now they’ve got a problem—mice love to chew on electrical wires. That little guy could strip the insulation from something essential … or (more likely) escape from the car into the garage, and from there back into the house.

Mice in vehicles have brought me a bit of work as a mechanic. I’ve got a 3-hour job to do today thanks to a rodent of some sort.

If it’s any consolation, your car ins. will cover damage in the car, homeowners will not cover damage in the house!

I can not wait for my wifes’ kids( 4 of them all over age 17) to buy there own cars. I am planning to eat every meal in it. Have the radio only play my stations and use their car for ever little whim I need to go to, and will never have the inconvenience of pumping gas again.

How to get a mouse out of your car before it can do some damage. I got a clue from the old children’s song ‘There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly.’ Solution; place a hungry, mouse-eating snake into the car! Now come back tomorrow while I think about how to get a not-so-very-hungry, mouse-eating snake out of your car?

Mice in cars are common, but often unnoticed until their presence causes a problem. I had one in the heating / cooling duct, and was killed by the blower when I turned on the A/C. The radio program Car Talk had several calls about mice problems.

There seems to be no good solution to the need to evict a critter. A couple of years ago, there was a post on Facebook that using live capture to release in a different area is cruel. Advocates for wildlife don’t like it. Some state officials don’t like it, and it might even be banned in some states.

Mice chewing insulation on wires under the car hood are a major problem in some places. We’ve used repellent sprays and packets, had a whole section of crucial wiring expensively sealed off at the dealer’s shop.

Set the trap in the car. You will catch it again. Of course when I caught the one in mine she had 5 babies in the trap and then abandoned them. No, I did not rescue them!

My sister and her husband live out in the country and they have carports, they leave the hood open and that keeps the mice from building nests in there

Exactly what does Elizabeth mean by “sort of” get out? A mouse either flees an open trap or he does not.

Elizabeth could have dodged a bullet without lying to her mother, as she did when she ruined the milk when Elly sent her on an errand. All she had to say was this:

Elly: “Elizabeth, open the cage and let him go!”

Elizabeth: “I opened the cage and he got out. See?”

Elizabeth shows empty trap to Elly

Elly: “Thank you. How hard was that? Now let’s get out of here.”

    If only Calvin was there.

    Elizabeth: “Mom! When’s dinner?”

Elly: “For you, now. Calvin, do your thing!”

Calvin pulls out his transmogrification gun and aims it at Elizabeth

    ZAP!

Elizabeth has been transformed into an owl

Elly: “OK, now eat that mouse!”

Contrary to the kind hearted intentions, mice frequently die when released outside their territories because they don’t know where to find food and water.
