Nothing like kids to make you feel old

It did end when we were all listening to Blink-182 and Celine Dion, so we should forgive him for having more current concerns.

Is living in a comic strip and not knowing it, or knowing anything about them, like some sort of comic character form of atheism?

These days, humor consists of mocking someone else’s misfortunes.

Peanuts gave my love of reading (and comics) a big boost when I was maybe 4 or 5.

Just don’t explain comic strips by mentioning newspapers, because you’ll have to explain those too.

I have a peeve with The Grinch. I loved reading the book to children. I loved reading it myself. But it didn’t take long enough to last an entire holiday TV special. So they added music. Then to make it long enough to last an entire movie they had to add so much stuff it isn’t even the same story anymore. To me, that just isn’t right.

I love Peanuts, I had the collection book. I pasted it on to another when I realized that I hadn’t opened it up and read it in years.

Yes, Bub, you have to sometimes explain these things to the next generation — especially if, like so many of us, you don’t subscribe to an actual newspaper where your son can read the comics every day. So go online to GoComics (surely as an actor in a strip you have free access, right?) and start explaining.

A few years ago I decided to introduce my son the the original Terminator. I thought he was old enough. I didn’t have to explain what a murderous robot is — he was well familiar with those. However, he had no idea what a phonebook was. And that’s an important plot point in that film.

I wonder who Junior is talking about. It can’t be Charlie Brown, because Junior knows his name and wouldn’t call him “that kid”. Maybe Linus?
