You should let them wear what they want to wear, it would be honest to who they are. I remember in school this one family would take their daughters to the beauty parlor the night before picture day but in looking back those pictures didn’t reflect what they really looked like at those ages.
During the early 70’s my mom decided that I should dress “stylishly”. I was given wide bell-bottoms with multi colorful stripes. I was (and still am) a jeans/t-shirt kinda guy, so I would go slightly out of the way to school to a friend’s house and change for school, then put the clown suit on for home. All was copacetic until I got sick at school and sent home, wearing jeans and t-shirt…
