Way too many of the calls I get have a Caller ID of “Spam Risk”.

Telemarketers need to tell you.

Scammers are making phones less useful.

Caller ID. It ranks up there with fire, the wheel and sliced bread.

I’m still using my first smart phone: the one I got about 4 years ago. At least I’ve taken the training wheels off it.

About 90% of its use is to receive verification codes so I can log into some of the 500 accounts (all of whose passwords I remember) that I have.

It do make and receive calls. Get text messages, send an occasional text message.

One thing I did learn how to do was set the ring tone. I have one especially for my wife, one for friends and relatives, another for business associates. If the default tone is heard, it goes to voicemail.

Oh yes, the phone has a camera. I tried it. It works. I think I’ve taken about a dozen pictures with it, mostly of whiteboards and documents so I could capture their information.

I’ve gotten good at remembering to keep it with me during my waking hours.

Unless I know the number, I let everything go to voicemail.

I’m so old, I remember when it was safe to answer the phone without worrying it was a spammer.

My land line rings and I’ll neva neva neva give it up!

I use fire line for my fishing tackle, unless I’m going for land sharks then land line is the go to…

I stopped answering my phone a long time ago. Now it’s doubly annoying because there’s been an increase in spam texts.

I can’t believe telemarketing/phone scams still bring in enough money to keep going, let alone buy the equipment for spoofing private numbers. Are we really that easy to fool with all the information at our fingertips these days?
