Interestingly, the town in Mexico I have vacationed in a few times had muster point (Punte de Reunion) signage all over (presumably for hurricanes). The only other place I’ve seen them is on a ship.
I remember muster points from elementary school. My father was in the Marine Corps and I grew up in Oceanside, CA. It was a military town – still is- because Camp Pendleton is next door.

The old reliable pay phone. Hard to find one these days.

Why? It’s not as though there’s a fire or chemical release as a result.

I’ve never heard of “Muster Points” and you’d be hard pressed to find a pay-phone most anywhere except, maybe NYC – let alone an actual booth
so if we suffer a real emergency…

Ooh – an intact booth, no graffiti, with a (presumably) working phone and WITH PHONE BOOK!

Why I still hold on to the walkie-talkie (CB) set.

If they keep walking by, they’ll pass muster.

Good old pay phone. Last time I used one, it charged me $1.25 for a local call (from the bus station to my home about 5 blocks away).

They need to muster up their strength to fight off the others if there is an outage.

But… with “copper wire” service being phased out, doesn’t that mean the pay phone is on the same network that’s having the outage?
