He wasn’t hired to rebuild our infrastructure, he was hired to shove an ideology down our throats. It is pretty obvious and not a surprise for thinking adults.
Shoulda entitled the book Toxic Whiteness, as Mayor Peetey is obsessed with that. Mayor Peetey is, like Kamala, Exhibit A of what results in diversity hiring. He is totally unqualified and inept in that job, but hired anyway because he’s gay.
I miss Sam Brinton at DOE, he wears pretty dresses and bright red lipstick. Unfortunately he had a bad habit of stealing suitcases at airports.
The correlation between toxic masculinity and all the other toxic situations in our world is probably a lot stronger than you’d imagine. Of course, Kelley could never see the connections.
Patriarchy + hierarchy = toxic masculinity. I almost feel sorry for white men… they’ve been at the top of the heap for so long for no really good reason and now the rest of us aren’t kowtowing to them just because.
“Historically, the conservative has favored liberty for the higher orders and constraint for the lower orders. What the conservative sees and dislikes in equality, in other words, is not a threat to freedom but its extension. For in that extension, he sees a loss of his own freedom. ‘We are all agreed as to our own liberty,’ declared Samuel Johnson. ‘But we are not agreed as to the liberty of others: for in proportion as we take, others must lose.’” – The Reactionary Mind
Mayor Pete has not been very good at his job. He had a lovely opportunity to show some leadership and head over to East Palestine but couldn’t be bothered. A brief tour and then sit in the town hall meeting to listen to the concerns of residents would have been the right thing to do, both for his own image and for the people of that community. He didn’t even send anyone from the NTSB to the town meeting.
‘A slap in the face’: East Palestine residents furious as Norfolk Southern skips town hall
Anxious and angry residents of East Palestine, Ohio gathered for a town hall Wednesday night hoping to get answers about the potential health impacts of a massive train derailment and chemical spill that put their small village in the national spotlight. But those who wanted to hear directly from the company at the center of the toxic disaster—Norfolk Southern—pulled out of the event hours before it began, expressing concerns about “the growing physical threat to our employees and members of the community… stemming from the increasing likelihood of the participation of outside parties.”
The Norfolk Southern Railroad-operated train derailed on Feb. 3. After railroad crews drained and burned off a toxic chemical from five tanker cars, REPUBLICAN governor DeWine said that residents could return to their homes.

Maybe the ability to be able to deal with two things at the same time is truly beyond the capabilities of the right? I feel badly for them.
